AMD Mantle
AMD is coming out with something that I’m sure they are hoping is going to be the next big thing. While they are still in the beta testing of their new Mantle piece, it could be shaping up for some serious upgrades for those that play BF4 and use an AMD GPU.
If you don’t know what
Mantle is, the short of it is that’s a way for games to talk
directly to a
GPU without having to be “translated” by the CPU. That means less bottlenecking and more performance for those games that are designed with Mantle in mind. Makes me wonder what NVIDIA is going to do to counter this as I’m sure that they wouldn’t want all future games designed specifically in mind for the ADM architecture. I’m keeping an eye out for their response over the next 4-6 months.
But here are few good articles to help explain what Mantle does and another on how Battlefield 4 will specifically be impacted/improved.
